Living Things vs. Non Living Things
Below is a lesson about the difference between living things and nonliving things. Professor Abigail Anderson willl guide you through this lesson. Good luck and enjoy!
Hi, I’m Professor Abigail Anderson, it is nice to get Acquainted children. We will begin right away, time is precious! Let's commence. Living things are alive. People, animals, and plants are living things because they need water, air, and energy, and they grow over time. Plants may stay in one place, but they are still living things because they grow and make new plants from seeds.
Non-living things are not alive. A rock, toy, book, and chair do not need food or water, do not grow like a plant or animal, and cannot make baby rocks, toys, books, or chairs. Remember: something can move without being alive—like a car or a ball—but it needs a person or something else to make it move.

Non-Living Things
Non-living things are objects that are not alive. They do not eat, drink water, grow, breathe, or have babies.
A rock may be big or small, but it does not need food or water. A toy can move when someone pushes it or when it has batteries, but it is not alive. A car can drive, but it needs a person, fuel, or electricity to move.
Other non-living things include a chair, pencil, ball, book, table, and backpack. We use many non-living things every day, but they need people to take care of them.
