William Shakespeare — Biography
William Shakespeare was a famous English writer, poet, and playwright. He was born in April 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon, a small town in England. His father's name was John Shakespeare, and his mother was Mary Arden. Shakespeare grew up with seven brothers and sisters. As a child, he went to a grammar school, where he learned about literature, Latin, and writing.
When he was 18 years old, Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway. Together, they had three children: Susanna, and twins named Hamnet and Judith. Shakespeare spent some years in Stratford with his family, but later he moved to
London to work in the theatre.
In London, Shakespeare became an actor and soon started writing plays. He wrote about 37 plays and many poems. His plays include tragedies, comedies, and histories. Some of his most famous works are Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Macbeth, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. People loved going to the Globe Theatre in London to watch his plays performed on stage.
Shakespeare’s writing talked about love, friendship, family, power, and dreams. He used beautiful language and created interesting characters. Even today, people all over the world read and perform his plays.
William Shakespeare died in 1616 in Stratford-upon-Avon. His work is still important, and he is known as one of the greatest writers in the history of English literature.
